Improving early childhood preventative oral healthcare in communities throughout New Jersey has long been a priority for NJAAP beginning with the formation of the Chapter’s Committee on Oral Health. Since that time, the Chapter has made significant progress in creating a solid infrastructure with partners and stake-holders to support the redesign of a system to better meet the oral health needs of all children throughout the state.
Today, NJAAP, in partnership with the New Jersey Dental Association, the New Jersey Department of Health, Delta Dental Foundation of New Jersey, DentaQuest Foundation, Horizon Foundation for New Jersey and other public and private organizations, remains committed to:
⋅ fostering greater medical-dental collaboration for advancing prevention strategies,
⋅ developing adequate financing structures, and
⋅ increasing the number of qualified dental providers skilled to meet the oral healthcare needs of children in New Jersey.
With these three priorities in mind, NJAAP now offers pediatric practices an on-site office training program on fluoride varnish application and strategies for securing service payment. This training assists the pediatric medical home in developing and incorporating sustainable practice strategies that in time will gradually shift focus from oral health treatment to disease prevention.
NJAAP and the New Jersey Oral Health Coalition’s Pediatric Health Home Subcommittee announce the launch of a new and improved website to support the Oral Health Wellness Campaign. We invite you to visit www.healthyteethnj.com and experience the simplicity of navigating the site’s wealth of information and resources
With funding support from DentaQuest Foundation’s Oral Health 2020 and Delta Dental Foundation of New Jersey, this initiative is leading to increased access to preventative care oral health services for children in New Jersey from birth to three years of age.
