I am a mother of one who lives in the Newark Community. I am very family oriented. I have recently became a Researcher with the GNHCC (Greater Newark Healthcare Coalition) and Rutgers Public Health. I researched and interviewed Black or African-American mothers in my community to assist in resolving the issue of why so many of the women in this particular race have a high rate of not surviving or having detrimental health issues after giving birth. I have seen the hardships of the women in my community. I am very committed to making change not only for my community but for women abroad who are experiencing the same misfortune. Women deserve to have the best especially when in the most precious and vulnerable time of their life, pregnancy.
