Newborn Screening for Critical Congenital Heart Defects (CCHD) Using Pulse Oximetry from the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) and the New Jersey Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics (NJAAP) is now available at no cost on the New Jersey Learning Management Network (NJLMN). Just create a free online account in the NJLMN and you are all set to take the course. All nurses who work with pregnant women, new moms and newborns are encouraged to complete the free online course. The course can be completed in a single session or across multiple sessions to fit your schedule and needs.

This program is approved for 1.75 nursing contact hours. The Southern New Jersey Perinatal Cooperative is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the New Jersey State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission On Accreditation. Provider Number P106-11/12-15. A certificate of continuing education will be awarded upon successful completion of all course requirements. Partial credit is not awarded. Only one certificate is issued per course participant; however, content may be reviewed at any time after the certificate is issued. Approval for nursing credit will expire on May 1, 2017.

  • Go to https://njlmn.rutgers.edu and log in (Create a Free Account if you don’t already have one)
  • Click “Course Catalog” in the blue top menu and click the “Online Course Catalog” tab
  • Scroll to “Newborn Screening for Critical Congenital Heart Defects (CCHD) Using Pulse Oximetry” and click “Register”
  • Click “Yes” to confirm your registration
  • Click “My Online Courses” in the grey top menu
