Author, Gina Cavallo, is the founder and executive director of the Paying it Forward Foundation, a New Jersey non-profit that provides survivors of human trafficking with access to emergency financial support and resources. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, physical abuse, and human trafficking, Gina has become a well-respected leader and advocate within the anti-human trafficking movement.

As an active board member and consultant with the New Jersey Coalition Against Human Trafficking, she is frequently called upon to speak not only from her personal traumatic experience, but also as an educator to varied audiences, such as law enforcement, medical personnel, first responders, universities, faith-based organizations, non-profit organizations, and governmental agencies. Gina is also a state-certified advocate for domestic violence and sexual assault victims.

As one of the first survivor leaders to address sex trafficking and exploitation in New Jersey, Gina’s repeated expert testimony to the New Jersey Legislature resulted in the passage of an education bill, the legislative progression of a vacatur expansion bill, and a hotline posting bill.

Gina’s powerful advocacy and legislative work include addressing sex trafficking and exploitation in her home state of New Jersey and across the United States.

Recently, Gina was appointed as a commissioner to the New Jersey Commission on Human Trafficking. She is also the recipient of the 2020 National Liberators Awards for Survivor Leader. Gina is documenting her life’s story in her upcoming book, which is projected to be released in 2023.
